Job Summary:
ClifyX is part of Kia's U.S. Connected Car team, which focuses on delivering innovative connected experiences for customers. The UAT Test Engineer will lead User Acceptance Testing for various connected car features, ensuring they meet business requirements and perform reliably in real-world scenarios.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Convert business requirements, epics, and UX flows into UAT scope, entry/exit criteria, and traceability (Req โ‡„ Test โ‡„ Defect).
โ€ข Define UAT test plans, data needs, environment needs, and UAT runbooks across mobile, cloud, and inโ€vehicle systems.
โ€ข Align with Product, Engineering, SRE/Operations, Legal/Compliance, and Dealer/Field Ops on acceptance criteria.
โ€ข Author endโ€toโ€end UAT scenarios (happy paths, edge cases, degraded modes, error handling) using BDD/Gherkin where helpful.
โ€ข Execute tests across iOS/Android apps, web portals, APIs (Postman), vehicle bench/TCU simulators, and onโ€road drive tests.
โ€ข Validate remote services (lock/unlock, start/stop, climate), live telemetry (location, status), OTA campaigns, and infotainment integrations.
โ€ข Perform API/UI/Push notification validation, latency and reliability checks, and data consistency checks (device โ†” cloud โ†” vehicle).
โ€ข Log, reproduce, and triage defects; prioritize with severity/business impact; drive fix/verify cycles to closure.
โ€ข Manage UAT status dashboards, daily standups, and go/no-go recommendations.
โ€ข Provide UAT signโ€off for pilots and staged rollouts; support hypercare post-release.
โ€ข Coordinate beta/pilot users, dealer staff, and internal business testers; provide training and UAT guidance.
โ€ข Conduct field validations for network variability (urban/suburban/rural), CAN data presence, GPS performance, and carrier differences.
โ€ข Support telemetry/data validation via logs and dashboards (e.g., Splunk/Kibana/Grafana).
โ€ข Ensure adherence to privacy and data standards (e.g., CCPA), cybersecurity posture (UNECE R155), and OTA update processes (UNECE R156).
โ€ข Align with Aโ€SPICE and ISO 26262 interfaces where applicable (for safetyโ€relevant features).
โ€ข Drive test data management (seeding/masking), environment stabilization, and shiftโ€left practices.
โ€ข Capture lessons learned, UAT playbooks, and reusable test libraries for future releases.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข 5โ€“6+ years in QA/UAT with at least 3+ years in connected vehicle, telematics, mobile apps, or IoT platforms.
โ€ข Strong endโ€toโ€end testing experience covering mobile apps (iOS/Android), REST APIs, and cloudโ€backed services.
โ€ข Handsโ€on with Postman/Swagger, device logs (adb, Xcode/Console), and push notification validation.
โ€ข Experience with vehicle or bench testing: basic familiarity with CAN, OBDโ€II, telematics control units, GPS/gnss behavior, or use of simulators for TCU/app flows.
โ€ข Proficiency with Jira + test management (e.g., TestRail) strong requirements traceability and documentation.
โ€ข Solid defect triage, reproduction, and crossโ€team communication skills; comfort presenting go/noโ€go recommendations to leadership.
โ€ข Ability to operate in ambiguous, fastโ€moving programs with multiple vendors and release trains.
Preferred:
โ€ข Automotive domain knowledge: remote commands, vehicle status, OTA campaign validation, infotainment integrations, charging/EV features.
โ€ข Tools exposure: Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, ETAS INCA, GPS spoofing tools, ELK, LMS, Grafana, App Center/TestFlight/Play Console.
