Vector Security is seeking an Outside Sales Representative (Commercial Security Solutions) to grow new and existing customer relationships within the Columbia Maryland and Washington DC area. This opportunity offers a combination of base salary and uncapped commission while building relationships with business owners and key decision makers.

Vector Security is seeking a Commercial Sales Representative responsible for developing new business relationships and delivering commercial security solutions to customers within the local market.

In this field-based role, you will meet with business owners to assess their security needs and recommend customized security solutions including alarm systems, video surveillance, access control, fire systems, and smart home technology.

By delivering solutions that protect people, property, and operations, representatives play a key role in helping commercial customers feel secure while growing their own income through performance-based earnings.

What You'll Do:

  • Prospect for new commercial business through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and community engagement across your territory
  • Meet with business owners and key decision makers to assess their security needs and recommend customized solutions including alarm systems, video surveillance, access control, and fire alarm systems
  • Build and present proposals and sales agreements that support long-term customer partnerships and recurring revenue
  • Guide customers through the entire sales process from initial consultation through installation and follow-up; partner closely with the installation team to ensure a seamless customer experience
  • Conduct onsite visits to assess client facilities and develop and design security system recommendations tailored to each location
  • Stay current on Vector’s product portfolio, required certifications, and competitive market conditions to position solutions effectively

What You'll Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of outside sales experience; at least 1 year of commercial/B2B sales experience required
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record
  • Demonstrated success in previous sales roles, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • Ability to build new client relationships and generate new business through prospecting, networking, referrals, social media, and local market outreach
  • Ability to present complex, integrated security solutions tailored to commercial environments and diverse decision-makers
  • Strong closing skills, including the ability to overcome objections, negotiate effectively, and close commercial proposals at a consistently acceptable rate

Candidates from a variety of outside sales environments often excel in this role, including security systems, alarm or access control sales, HVAC or building systems sales, telecom or cable sales, solar, pest control, or other territory-based consultative sales roles.

    Compensation & Earnings Potential:

    Base salary range: $40,000 - 50,000/year + uncapped commission. This role offers a competitive commission structure with uncapped earning potential. High-performing representatives often earn up to $80,000 in their first year, with experienced top performers exceeding six figures.

    Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. Additional benefits are outlined in the Total Rewards section below.
