Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The VDC Manager is the single point of accountability for VDC on an assigned pursuit or project, orchestrating people, process, and technology to deliver coordinated, field-ready models and Owner-ready digital turnover. They plan, execute, and continuously improve the project's VDC program through the Project VDC Execution Plan (VxP), model coordination, field validation, and digital deliverables. The VxP serves as the team's contract-aligned roadmap for BIM/VDC uses, roles, LOD scope, standards, sign-off criteria, and the coordination schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Planning
  • Develop and maintain the project's VDC Execution Plan (VxP), aligning scope, BIM uses, roles/RACI, LOD, collaboration standards, sign-off process, and schedule; keep it current and contract-compliant.
  • Stand up the standard digital stack: Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for model hosting, Revizto for 2D/3D coordination and issue tracking, and Procore for contract drawings, field access, and sign-off artifacts.

Design & Preconstruction
  • Establish Federated Model Geo-Location and ensure all models are setup to real-world/site survey control; define interoperability/file standards and version control.
  • Lead VDC kickoff and recurring coordination meetings; define areas/zones, LOD expectations, QA checklists, and collaboration cadences per the VxP.
  • Drive constructability reviews and early 4D/sequence alignment with the build plan; prepare visuals as needed to communicate phasing and site logistics.

Coordination & Field Integration
  • Run the finite coordination and model sign-off process by area, managing change control and ensuring fabrication-ready models/drawings align to approved submittals.
  • Integrate field validation (layout/reality capture) to keep the federated model current with installed conditions and to control model drift.
  • Maintain issue logs, model audits, and decision records in Revizto/ACC per VxP QA/QC requirements.

Owner Deliverables & Closeout
  • Compile and deliver complete digital turnover packages per contract and VxP: record/federated models with required updates, reality capture, and Owner asset data where specified.

Stakeholder Leadership
  • Serve as the digital liaison to Owner, designer, and trade partners; set expectations, resolve conflicts/escalations quickly, and coach teams on standards and workflow adherence.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in BIM/VDC, with a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary coordination on complex commercial or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in VxP authoring and governance, LOD planning, area-based coordination and sign-off, and field validation of models.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Revizto, and Procore in production environments, including provisioning, permissions, and workflow management.
  • Strong facilitation, issue resolution, and change management skills, with the ability to lead and communicate effectively across owner, design, trade, and field teams.
  • Experience delivering projects in design-build or CMAR environments, including enabling prefabrication through model fidelity and sequencing.
  • Familiarity with asset data standards and digital turnover requirements.
  • Professional credentials such as CM-BIM or DBIA preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with model authoring tools including Revit, Civil 3D, SketchUp, ACC (Docs/Design/Model hosting), Revizto (coordination/issues), Procore (field/contract workflows), and additional authoring or fabrication tools as required by trade; knowledge of Rhino is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to be on-site during key coordination and field integration phases, with periodic travel to designer offices, collaborative work sessions ("big rooms"), owner review meetings, and out-of-state training, committee participation, or industry conferences as needed.
  • Strong governance and planning abilities to operationalize VxP and align models, data, and workflows with contract and schedule requirements.
  • Technical fluency in geospatial setup, interoperability, version control, and maintaining audit-ready coordination records.
  • Proven ability to integrate digital and field work, maintaining current federated models with verified changes.
  • Effective stakeholder leadership, including clear communication, timely escalation, and disciplined decision documentation.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting VxP QA/QC and sign-off criteria, achieving area-based coordination sign-offs, managing controlled change impacts, and ensuring complete and accurate digital deliverables per contract requirements.
