What is a VC?

VCs, or Venture Capitalists, are investors who provide funding to early-stage or growing companies in exchange for equity, or partial ownership, in the business. They typically invest in startups with high growth potential, helping them expand by offering not only capital but also strategic advice, industry connections, and mentorship. VCs aim to achieve significant returns on their investments when the companies they back succeed, often through public offerings or acquisitions.

What are some common challenges faced by VCs when evaluating early-stage startups for investment?

One of the main challenges VCs face is assessing the potential of startups with limited financial history and unproven business models. Due diligence often involves analyzing the founding team's expertise, market opportunity, and scalability rather than relying solely on quantitative metrics. Additionally, VCs must balance the risk of investing in untested ideas with the potential for high returns, while also ensuring that their portfolio is diversified. Collaboration with other investors and industry experts is often crucial during this evaluation process.
