Job description

Certified Nursing Assistant (Night Shift 11-7:30 AM)

This position will support and assist the Nursing Staff to promote safety and delivery of quality direct care for VCBR's Residents; identifies and responds to patient's immediate personal needs; communicates and interacts with residents throughout all shifts daily; assists professional staff with providing therapeutic activities in a psycho-social treatment environment; and adheres and supports recovery by following resident's individualized treatment plan.

Knowledge: of general health practices for geriatric-age population; safety practices. Skills: techniques of assisting patients with ADL and personal care; communication (verbal and written). Abilities: ability to work with people (teamwork); ability to work in stressful environment; ability to understand and follow written policies and procedures. Experience in health care facility, acute care or long-term care preferred. Walking and/or standing for up to 8 hours or more; bending and lifting; working shift work; working overtime hours or shifts as required. Moving patients with aid of mechanical devices. May be exposed to aggressive residents. State Board License to practice as a Nursing Aid in the State of Virginia is required.

Experience in a psychiatric, health care facility, acute care, long-term care, or correction setting is preferred.
