Job description

VBM Waste Solutions | Part-Time Evening Position


@ IMPORTANT: This is a multi-property position. Your work location may change nightly depending on staffing and operational needs. 


VBM Waste Solutions is seeking a dependable and self-motivated Valet Trash Rover to support operations across multiple apartment communities.


Unlike a Porter who is assigned to a single property, a Rover travels between properties to provide route coverage, assist with heavy workloads, cover employee absences, complete quality inspections, and ensure our customers continue receiving reliable service.


This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works independently, and is comfortable adapting to changing assignments. 


What You’ll Do

  • Collect bagged household trash and flattened cardboard from resident doorsteps
  • Carry and load collected trash into your pickup truck
  • Transport trash to the property’s on-site compactor
  • Unload trash at the compactor
  • Walk apartment communities, including stairs and outdoor areas
  • Identify, photograph, and document service violations
  • Use required mobile apps to clock in and out and submit reports
  • Follow route instructions, company procedures, and directions from supervisors
  • Provide dependable and professional service to residents and property staff
  • Work with Director of Operations to ensure route coverage


Pay and Schedule

  • $18 per hour, depending on the assigned route and position
  • Sunday through Thursday evenings
  • Shifts begin at 8:00 PM
  • Guaranteed 18 paid hours per week
    • Sunday: 6 paid hours
    • Monday–Thursday: 3 paid hours per night
  • $100 monthly Rover gas allowance
  • Applicants must be available to work the assigned Sunday–Thursday schedule. 


This position guarantees 18 paid hours per week, Sunday through Thursday. Because this is a Rover position, those hours are not tied to one apartment community. You may work at one property for the entire shift or be assigned to multiple properties during the same evening based on staffing and service needs.


***Rovers must be flexible and prepared for assignments to change with short notice.

Requirements

  • Reliable personal pickup truck with an open bed (required)
  • Ability to travel between multiple apartment communities throughout the evening
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current automobile insurance in your name or showing you as a listed driver
  • Smartphone with an active data plan
  • Willingness to download and use required company apps
  • At least 18 years old
  • Reliable attendance and transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to follow procedures and accept supervision


This is a physically demanding position that involves walking throughout apartment communities, repeatedly climbing stairs, lifting and carrying trash bags, loading and unloading your vehicle, and working in both indoor and outdoor areas throughout the shift. Property layouts and working conditions vary by location.
