Job description

REAL Journey Academies (RJA) is a non-profit charter school management organization designed to significantly increase college entrance and graduation rates for underserved students in the Inland Empire. We aim to impact and revitalize communities by developing education and other supportive partnerships.

Job Purpose:
Entrepreneur High School San Bernardino is seeking a Boys Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach to support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes and maintaining a structured, competitive, and positive baseball program. This role assists with practices, skill development, and game preparation while
reinforcing team expectations, sportsmanship, and player growth on and off the field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with practices and games by supporting drills, conditioning, and daily team activities under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Lead practices when needed by stepping in to organize and run team activities in the absence of the Head Coach.
  • Reinforce baseball fundamentals by supporting instruction in hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running during practices and games.
  • Support player development by observing performance, providing feedback, and reinforcing individual improvement plans.
  • Assist with game preparation and execution by helping implement offensive and defensive strategies during competition.
  • Monitor student-athlete behavior by reinforcing expectations related to discipline, accountability, and sportsmanship.
  • Promote player safety by reinforcing proper technique and supporting injury prevention practices.
  • Build relationships with student-athletes by supporting their academic, athletic, and personal development.
  • Assist with team logistics by helping manage equipment, field setup, and practice or game- day organization.
  • Support communication efforts by relaying information to players and families as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff by maintaining consistency in expectations, instruction, and program goals.
  • Follow all school and CIF Southern Section (CIF SS) policies and procedures related to athletics.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, preferably as a head or assistant baseball coach.
  • Strong knowledge of baseball, including rules, strategies, techniques, and conditioning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and school staff.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive team environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Valid coaching certification or willingness to obtain one prior to the start of the season (as required by the state or school district).

Physical demands:

  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Ability to physically demonstrate and participate in sport-specific drills and activities.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessary for practices, games, and events.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The hourly pay for the Boys Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach position is $20 hr for the baseball season.
