Job description

Vehicle Modification Technician

Summary:

NVR plays a specialized and hands-on role in customizing and outfitting commercial vehicles to meet client needs.

1. Assessment & Planning

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their goals-whether it's improving utility, installing safety gear, or adding custom features.
  • Evaluate the current state of the vehicle and determine required modifications.

2. Modification & Installation

  • Execute mechanical, electrical, and body modifications which may include:
    • Installing specialty parts (e.g., suspension kits, performance components).
    • Electrical upgrades like lighting systems, communication devices, or navigation units.
    • Interior enhancements such as custom seating, cabinetry, or tech add-ons.

3. Fabrication & Adaptation

  • Customize or fabricate mounting hardware, wiring harnesses, and structural supports to accommodate unique installations.
  • Weld, cut, and adapt components as needed to suit vehicle-specific requirements.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing to ensure modifications meet safety standards and function as expected.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with industry regulations and standards.

5. Troubleshooting & Testing

  • Diagnose any issues arising during or after modifications.
  • Test systems-both mechanically and electronically-to confirm proper operation.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of parts used, labor time, and modification specifications.
  • Provide clients with estimates, progress updates, and final summaries.

7. Customer Interaction

  • Communicate professionally with clients to clarify requirements, manage expectations, and explain technical aspects.
  • Offer expert advice and tailored solutions based on vehicle type and usage.

8. Workshop Maintenance & Safety

  • Keep the work environment clean, safe, and organized.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.

9. Continuous Learning

  • Stay current on new vehicle technologies, customization techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in training and professional development to expand skill sets.

Safety shoes are required on day one of employment. Employees must wear approved safety footwear at all times while working in designated shop and service areas- Background screening is a mandatory prerequisite for employment consideration.
