Technicians often work closely with plant engineers and maintenance crews to address urgent issues and keep equipment running smoothly. This role may involve both workshop and on-site work, so adaptability and readiness to respond to scheduled and emergency maintenance are valuable traits for success.

What is a valve?

A valve job is a process in engine maintenance where the cylinder head's valves, valve seats, and other components are cleaned, resurfaced, or replaced to restore proper engine performance. This procedure helps ensure a tight seal between the valves and the combustion chamber, preventing leaks and maintaining compression. A valve job typically includes inspecting for wear, grinding or replacing valves, and reseating them to improve efficiency. It is often necessary when an engine experiences power loss, rough idling, or excessive oil consumption.
