Job description

Description

Holley-Navarre Water System is an 18,000 strong member owned not-for-profit water and wastewater company in Santa Rosa County. HNWS has an annual budget of approximately $16 million. HNWS wholly owns two subsidiaries, an engineering firm and a golf course. This position will locate, inspect, and exercise system valves per Department of Environmental Protection and HNWS rules and regulations.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Locate and GPS all water and sewer valves in HNWS system.
  • Inspect and exercise all water valves. Record size of each valve and number of turns to open and close valve.
  • Record if valve is working or broken.
  • Inspect and repair (if needed) valve box and traffic ring.
  • Remove all dirt and debris from valve box.
  • Make sure box is centered over valve so personnel can operate valve in emergency situations.
  • Mark all valves with road reflectors.
  • Must be able to operate a Trimble GPS unit to mark and map valves.
  • Must be able to operate a valve maintenance trailer (trailer has vacuum and water jetting capability).
  • Must be able to use shovels, posthole diggers, pry bars, and any other tools needed to excavate valves.
  • Will work in or near high-traffic areas.
  • Must keep accurate records for valves.
  • All other duties as assigned.
