Job description

Job Title- Focus Factory Manager

Project Location – Onsite

Duration- Full time

Visa- USC/ GC

Title:** Focus Factory Manager (This is the company's preferred title, but candidates with operations experience might also be a good fit, even if their previous title was Manufacturing Manager).

Confidential Search:** This is a confidential search primarily because the company believes internal candidates aren't quite ready for these roles, not due to any layoffs.

Number of Positions:** There are two permanent Focus Factory Manager positions available, both at the same level but supporting different value streams.

**Role Details** These roles are available because two existing managers, who came up through engineering, are moving back into much-needed engineering leadership positions due to increased demand at the site.

Value Stream 1 (Legacy Systems/Existing Manufacturing):** This position requires 4-6 years of direct management experience within a focus factory setting.

Value Stream 2 (Newly Integrated Manufacturing):** This role is for a "turnaround person" who can truly transform this group. It requires 7 years of actual management experience, with a strong emphasis on lean practices and process improvement.

Both positions offer significant autonomy; there will be no micromanagement. The hiring manager was smart, funny, and highly focused on making this site a benchmark for other locations. Senior leadership, both in the US and globally, fully supports these initiatives, offering high visibility and the unique opportunity for the successful candidates to create and own their work.

**Ideal Candidate Profile**- The hiring manager values practical experience. While certifications like a Black Belt are great, they should be accompanied by real-world application. They are looking for "show me" type of people rather than those who focus on theoretical discussions.

Key qualities include:

People Management:** Strong ability to lead and develop teams.

Resilience:** Comfortable working under pressure.

Communication:** Excellent communication skills.

Impact:** A desire to be part of larger initiatives, contributing to TE's overall success and this role is slated as part of their succession planning.

This site has the potential to become a company-wide example, and the individuals in these roles will be instrumental in making that happen, sharing in the success and recognition.

  • This is an opportunity to take ownership and control the direction of newly created processes for your value stream, with the full support of senior leadership globally.
  • These are high-visibility, high-impact roles, integral to succession planning within a company known for retaining and promoting its people.
  • You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and short/long-term planning across manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, EH\&S, and shipping/receiving. The focus will be on developing technologies, continuous improvement, and translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes.
  • This position requires strong leadership and management skills from a lean manufacturing environment, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • You and your team will directly impact Health and Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Operating Efficiencies, KPIs, S\&OP + budgeting, Plant Communications, and more.

Qualifications

* Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in business/manufacturing, with 4-7 years of direct people management.

* Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.

* Experience/qualification in lean methodology with proven process improvement and problem-solving experience.

* Demonstrated leadership ability, motivating individuals and cross-functional teams.

* Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.

* Proven decision-making ability and a willingness to accept responsibility.

* Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Project Management, or New Product Introduction (NPI).

* Ability to drive organizational change and support business decisions/initiatives.
