Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

This role assists in identifying inefficiencies, applying lean tools, and sustaining improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and safety. Working closely with production teams, engineers, and supervisors, the technician helps embed a culture of continuous improvement across operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Apply lean manufacturing tools and techniques (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work) to production processes
  • Support continuous improvement projects by collecting data, analyzing workflows, and identifying waste
  • Assist in implementing process changes and monitor their effectiveness over time
  • Document improvements in work instructions, SOPs, and training materials
    • Assist in the implementation of a visual workflow management system that facilitates continuous improvement through collaboration and feedback. This includes color coding, implementation of labeling systems, shadow boards, and tooling management systems.
  • Maintain performance boards and metrics tracking systems to ensure visibility of progress
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve process bottlenecks and improve efficiency
  • Promote safety and quality standards by ensuring lean initiatives align with compliance requirements
  • Report project outcomes and KPIs to supervisors and management regularly

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and tools
  • Strong data collection and analysis skills (Excel, SPC tools, ERP/MES systems)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt), or similar preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing or process improvement roles
