Job description

The Staff Pad has partnered with a well-known logistics and warehousing organization, and we are looking to hire a professional, skilled and dependable Mover/Driver for the Brooklyn, NY location.

The essential duties of this role are to work on all aspects of residential removals, collections, deliveries and installations of personal effects, art and antiques under the management of immediate supervisor. We are looking for skilled Movers with box truck driving experience; art handling experience is a bonus.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily collections and deliveries, both locally and interstate, as required.
  • Manage and maintain all documentation while on-site or working in the field, including the completion of condition reports for goods.
  • Collaborate with the Driver to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and fully prepared for each day or trip.
  • Verify the goods scheduled for transport against the daily trip sheet or manifest before departure.
  • Ensure any amendments to the daily trip manifest are reported to and approved by the Dispatch Manager prior to implementation.
  • Safely handle and transport artworks, fragile items, antiques, and fine furniture
  • Assist with installation projects as required
  • Conduct condition checks and prepare detailed condition reports when necessary
  • Pack artworks, antiquities, and fine furniture for transportation and storage
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of company vehicles
  • When commencing or concluding a workday at a location other than the company premises, complete a manual timesheet and obtain the signature of a supervisor or manager within 24 hours

What We Are Looking For

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in the handling, packing, transportation, and safe movement of artwork and fine furniture
  • Working knowledge of logistics, warehousing, moving, and transportation operations
  • Understanding of inventory management processes and a willingness to develop expertise in the handling of furniture, artwork, and antiquities from collection through installation
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to address challenges effectively and efficiently
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accurately complete detailed documentation, including inventory records and condition reports
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working in a performance- and results-driven workplace
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and always represents the company positively
  • Experience operating hand trucks, pallet jacks, J-bars, dollies, and other material-handling and logistics equipment
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver large, heavy, or delicate objects without causing injury or damage, including pushing and pulling up to 150 pounds using a dolly or cart.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and reaching overhead for extended periods
