Summary
Supervises the activities of the Pharmacy staff. Assumes responsibility for adequately staffing the pharmacy department and pharmacy productivity. Coordinates the performance evaluation process and quality assurance activities. Acts as a liaison between the pharmacy's technical staff, upper pharmacy management, and other disciplines.
Job Duties
  • Collaborates with Pharmacy Leadership and others within the department to monitor, maintain, and improve operational efficiency of the department.
  • Assumes staffing responsibilities in the role of the pharmacist to ensure smooth operation of the pharmacy.
  • Manages the specialized functions of the assigned areas. Ensures projects are carried out, provides training where needed, and contributes to budget and expense management.
  • Develops schedules, conducts annual evaluations, provides orientation, offers counseling, interviews candidates, approves time cards, and hires and discipline employees.
  • Provides input on budgetary considerations for their section at budget time. Monitors the income and expenses to compare with the budget as documented by monthly reports.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and establishes process change. Engages staff to participate in all aspects of department improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • 3 years Hospital pharmacy and pharmacist experience.
  • Demonstrates ability to direct pharmacy staff and to address scheduling, productivity, and personnel problems or questions in a positive manner.
  • RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
