Diagnostic Radiologist Role Overview:

The Diagnostic Radiologist provides comprehensive radiological care services to veterans, ensuring continuity of care within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and is a key clinical member within the medical center.

The position involves interpreting and performing a wide range of imaging radiological procedures, both scheduled and emergencies, as directed by the Medical Staff. Procedures are scheduled through the Inpatient, Outpatient, and Emergency Room sections, and the individual in this role oversees supporting employees during these procedures.

Responsibilities include ensuring the quality and timeliness of reports, performing diagnostic interpretations of imaging studies (fluoroscopy, radiography, sonography, CT, MRI), and referring patients to other physicians as necessary. The individual may also assist with or perform imaging-guided interventional procedures.

Administrative duties involve maintaining workload statistics, participating in clinical boards, meetings, and committees, contributing to medical education programs, and engaging in the Department's Quality Assurance Program.

Responsibilities Include:

Veteran-Centered Care:

• Deliver comprehensive radiological services with an emphasis on accurate diagnosis, patient education, and coordination of care.
• Promote shared decision-making with veterans and their families to achieve optimal health outcomes.

Clinical Excellence:

• Interpret a wide range of diagnostic imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds.
• Perform image-guided procedures, such as biopsies and drainages.
• Conduct outpatient radiology clinics and provide inpatient consultations as needed.

Quality Improvement:

• Participate in continuous quality improvement projects to enhance the delivery of care.
• Utilize various quality measurement tools to monitor and improve clinical performance and patient outcomes.

Clinical Leadership:

• Serve as a mentor and role model for other healthcare providers within the radiology team.
• Engage in educational activities, providing guidance and support to residents, students, and other trainees.

Healthcare Coordination:

• Coordinate care for veterans involving specialty care, mental health services, and other ancillary services to ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery.
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans for veterans.
