Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) professional to support a mission-critical defense program focused on tactical ground and space mission capabilities. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be able to meet program security requirements, and an active TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred. About the Opportunity:
This role supports a complex system-of-systems environment that integrates a variety of commercial and government technologies into operational capabilities used by military personnel worldwide. The team is focused on advancing Digital Engineering initiatives, improving engineering processes, and developing scalable model-based solutions that support system design, integration, modernization, sustainment, and future capability growth. The selected individual will play a key role in establishing and enhancing MBSE standards, governance processes, and modeling best practices while supporting engineers across multiple disciplines. This position blends systems architecture, technical leadership, engineering process improvement, mentoring, and hands-on modeling support within a collaborative engineering environment. What You'll Be Doing:
1. MBSE Governance & Standards
- Refine and maintain MBSE modeling standards, conventions, and style guides.
- Develop processes that promote consistency, quality, and reuse across engineering models.
- Establish best practices for model organization, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
- Support model configuration management and synchronization efforts.
- Contribute to Digital Engineering strategy and implementation initiatives. 2. Modeling & Architecture Support
- Provide guidance on the effective use of Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) and SysML v1.x.
- Support development and organization of system architecture models.
- Help maintain traceability across requirements, functions, interfaces, and verification activities.
- Support collaborative modeling efforts across distributed engineering teams. 3. Systems Engineering
- Collaborate with software, hardware, integration, network, and systems engineering teams.
- Support architecture development for complex system-of-systems environments.
- Assist with capturing and maintaining relationships between requirements, functions, interfaces, and verification activities.
- Support design, development, integration, testing, production, sustainment, and modernization activities. 4. Team Development
- Provide coaching and guidance to systems and MBSE practitioners.
- Conduct model reviews and provide feedback on engineering artifacts.
- Share best practices for MBSE methodologies, SysML implementation, and Digital Engineering principles.
- Support the continued growth of MBSE capabilities across the organization. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience supporting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives.
- Hands-on experience with Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw.
- Experience working within SysML v1.x environments.
- Experience developing or implementing modeling standards, governance processes, or style guides.
- Strong understanding of systems architecture, requirements management, and traceability.
- Experience providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing within engineering teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet program security requirements. Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense, Army, Intelligence Community, or mission-focused programs.
- Experience with tactical systems, space systems, C4ISR, mission systems, or system-of-systems architectures.
- Familiarity with Digital Engineering initiatives and collaborative modeling environments.
- Experience with repository management, model configuration management, and model synchronization.
- Experience supporting geographically distributed engineering teams.
