What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a UX Auditor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a UX Auditor, you need strong expertise in user experience principles, usability testing, and interface evaluation, usually supported by a background in design or human-computer interaction. Familiarity with analytics tools like Google Analytics, usability testing platforms, and wireframing software is typically required. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and clear communication are essential soft skills for delivering actionable insights to stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate identification of usability issues and effective recommendations for improving digital products.

What are some common challenges faced when conducting a UX audit, and how can I address them effectively?

One common challenge in conducting a UX audit is balancing subjective user feedback with objective usability data. You may encounter conflicting opinions from stakeholders or users, which requires strong analytical skills to prioritize actionable improvements. Additionally, limited access to user data or analytics can make it difficult to identify issues, so proactively collaborating with data analysts and product managers is essential. Maintaining clear communication with cross-functional teams ensures that your audit findings are understood and implemented effectively, resulting in meaningful UX enhancements.

What is a UX Audit?

A UX Audit is a comprehensive evaluation of a digital product’s user experience, such as a website or app. The process involves analyzing usability, accessibility, and overall user satisfaction to identify areas that may cause confusion or frustration. UX Audits typically result in actionable recommendations to improve the product’s design and functionality, ensuring it better meets user needs and business goals. This evaluation can be performed using various methods, including heuristic analysis, user data review, and competitor benchmarking.

Job description

Overview

Arke is seeking a User Experience Designer to join our growing team. This role plays a critical part in translating complex business challenges into intuitive, impactful digital experiences. You'll design responsive websites, portals, kiosks, mobile apps, eCommerce journeys, and CM-driven experiences, grounding every solution in strong UX principles and collaborating closely with creative and development teams in an iterative, agile environment.

If you're passionate about making digital experiences simpler, smarter, and more human-especially as they evolve with AI and new interaction models-we'd love to hear from you. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, along with the ability to take initiative and contribute meaningfully across both internal teams and client engagements.

While this is a remote position, we do expect some in-office days to connect and collaborate.
Note: To be considered for this position, a portfolio or case studies of work must be submitted with the application.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to understand user behaviors, needs, and motivations through methods such as journey mapping, persona development, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing
  • Support or participate in stakeholder interviews, workshops, UX audits (including AI-readiness evaluations), user testing and research synthesis
  • Contribute to information architecture, including content hierarchies, structured content planning, and navigation strategy
  • Create key UX deliverables such as user flows, journey maps, wireframes, sitemaps, and low- to mid-fidelity prototypes
  • Contribute to the design of AI-informed experiences, including prompt journeys, GPT discovery flows, and conversational interfaces
  • Design conversion-focused experiences, including eCommerce flows, PLPs/PDPs, and filtering or cart functionality
  • Apply accessibility, mobile-responsiveness, and usability best practices across all deliverables
  • Collaborate closely with creative, technical, and engagement teams to ensure alignment across strategy, design, and implementation
  • Participate in evolving Arke's UX practice, including contributing to internal standards, processes, and innovation initiatives

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience in digital-first environments
  • 3-6 years of experience designing digital experiences across platforms and devices
  • Strong experience in wireframing, journey mapping, user flows, and prototyping
  • Ability to interpret research, user testing, and behavioral data into practical UX solutions
  • Working knowledge of Figma, Miro, or similar prototyping and collaboration tools
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and responsive frameworks; understanding how designs translate into front-end development
  • Exposure to CMS-driven experiences and structured content models
  • Interest in emerging technologies and interfaces, including AI-enhanced or conversational experiences
  • Bonus: Understanding of visual design fundamentals (typography, hierarchy, layout, grid systems)
