Job description

The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides advanced technical skill in setting up and operating artificial kidney machines for treatment of patients with renal failure.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs analysis and isolation of mechanical or electronic malfunctions.
  • Inspects and tests equipment and apparatus to ensure specified functional qualities.
  • Determines cause of malfunction.
  • Disassembles equipment and repairs or replaced defective parts.
  • Reassembles equipment and adjusts and calibrates precision components.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and quality control.
  • Records all work performed such as results of tests, diagnosis and repairs.
  • Conducts staff training and in-services.
  • Responds to home patient problems.
  • Trains hemodialysis patients.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

EQUIPMENT:

Artificial kidney and dialysis delivery systems. Standard laboratory testing and sterilizing devices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standard hospital and/or clinical environment. Work environment is located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.

REQUIRED EDUCATOIN/EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years related experience.

Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
