Utilities Service Worker I/II/III (Wastewater - 2 Positions).
JOB LOCATION:
  • City Wastewater Facility.
  • City of Zephyrhills.

SALARY RANGE:
Utilities Service Worker I:
  • $32,760.00 - $48,864.00 Annual.
  • Starting Salary: $32,760.00 / $15.75/hr.
  • Pay Grade Z-151.

Utilities Service Worker II:
  • $36,117.90 - $50,565.06 Annual.
  • Starting Salary: $36,117.90/ $17.36/hr.
  • Pay Grade Z-153.

Utilities Service Worker III:
  • $39,819.98 - $55,747.98 Annual.
  • Starting Salary: $39,819.98 / $19.14/hr.
  • Pay Grade Z-155.
  • Non-Exempt / Mandatory Testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED. Prior experience in water and/or sewer systems preferred.
  • Must possess a State of Florida Class C Wastewater Collections Technician certification or obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment (*USW II: Class C or higher certification and one (1) year experience; **USW III: Class C or higher certification, FDEP Class 3 Distribution license, and three (3) years’ experience).
  • Applicants must have knowledge of Work Zone Safety requirements.
  • Qualified applicants will have a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement, or be able to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Performs work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection systems. Operates heavy equipment including a backhoe, trencher, front loader, and boring machine in order to perform various maintenance tasks. Checks lift stations and other related equipment.
  • Service Workers complete repairs to wastewater system and possibly water system. Performs general maintenance duties. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Position is subject to emergency call-outs and must be able to work overtime including nights, weekends, holidays, and stand-by as required.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing, and complete a physical exam before employment.
  • Tasks completed for this position involve regular and, at times, sustained physical exertion.
  • Possession of a current valid Florida driver license is also required before employment.

The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
