Utilities Locator/Designator - SUE - Houston, TX
Halff has an immediate opening for a Utility Locator/Utility Designator located in our Houston, TX office. The ideal candidate would bring at least a year of utility locating and utility designating experience. The position offers an excellent career development opportunity for someone looking to grow with Halff, with potential for not only business and personal growth, but ownership in the firm.
What you will do:
  • Operate various electromagnetic locating equipment, to locate and mark underground utilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
  • Read and interpret utility plans/prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
  • Provide accurate documentation and/or sketches related to locates completed.
  • Operate company vehicle in a safe manner and maintain professional appearance.
  • Perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.

What you will need:
  • 1+ years of locating/designating experience is required.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Vac Truck experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold temperatures.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Possess a meticulous attention to detail and strong ability to promote accuracy. There is very minimal room for error in this position.
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions that may be written, delivered verbally, or conveyed from various methods of communication.
  • Must be flexible, dependable, responsible and disciplined to be a positive representative for Halff and remain punctual on a consistent basis.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Must be able to arrive to work earlier than usual start time, beginning at 6:30am, Monday through Friday.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Will need to be available and able to travel out of town up to 1 week (Monday - Friday) at a time (could be up to 10 days at a time, but very rare).
  • Willing and able to perform hard, physical labor at times near dangerous equipment
  • Ability to pass a drug and background screen.
  • High school diploma or GED, at minimum is required.
