Job Summary 

Our Transmission General Foreman leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to Transmission electrical utility work and to meet customer needs, ensuring crew safety, keeping track of employee hours, completing daily & weekly safety briefings/inspections, and calls in project utility locations. This position requires extensive knowledge of Transmission systems, management of multiple crews, management of storm crews, scheduling of crews, and coordinating resources. General Foreman read blueprints of projects and are responsible for production efficiency, training, and the safety of their crews. This position oversees multiple overhead utility line teams and coordinates with both internal/external departments to manage logistic support. 


Responsibilities
  • Communicates corporate policies, goals and objectives to crew members and ensure compliance. 
  • Completes work orders in the field as designed per the Transmission Overhead Construction, Distribution Design Standard, Overhead & Underground Construction Standards manuals. 
  • Follows accounting procedures for all materials needed for projects and ensures that it is accurately accounted for through the work order. 
  • Ensures appropriate training of all team members including coaching and mentoring, career development, as well as administering recognition and guidance while demonstrating the highest standards of ethics and integrity. 
  • Responsible for meeting safety, financial, customer satisfaction, reliability, and environmental goals of the company as they relate directly to Transmission, Construction and Maintenance. 
  • Collaborates with team, peers, all levels of management, various company departments and external customers regarding daily work activities as well as short and long-term projects.
  • Creates and maintains a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow company safety protocols and safe work practices. 
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned. 

Qualifications
  • Multiple years of Supervisory and/or team leadership experience.  
  • Two years of experience in the operation and/or construction and maintenance of the Transmission electrical work.
  • Current and valid state driver's license.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 3 years of Transmission supervisory experience.
  • 7 years of Transmission electrical utility experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree.
  • OSHA 20 certification.
  • Working with environmental compliance and regulatory requirements, including hazardous waste and yard management.  
  • Experience working with the procurement process.  
  • Handling labor relations and diversity issues, and the application of union agreement. 
  • Experience with safe work practices, construction/maintenance methods, techniques, tools, and equipment.    
  • Microsoft Excel and Word experience. 
  • Analyzing information, making sound decisions that have moderate to significant business impact and developing and implementing strategies.  
  • Achieving results through others by prioritizing activities, delegating, and monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding employees accountable for results.  
  • Using effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
