Project Manager โ€“ Capital Construction Projects

Location: Walker, MI

Pay Rate: $55.00 - $65.00/hour

Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead intermediate to large-scale capital construction projects. This role is responsible for managing projects from initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to safety standards, project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.

The ideal candidate will bring strong utility industry experience, exceptional project leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to successfully deliver complex infrastructure and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define project scope and coordinate multidisciplinary teams responsible for scheduling, cost estimating, engineering, and project execution.
  • Oversee engineering, design, installation, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
  • Manage project budgets, expenditures, procurement activities, labor resources, equipment, and materials.
  • Support and oversee on-site construction activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure successful delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and key milestones to stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and labor organizations.
  • Evaluate project risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform project cost analysis and variance reporting.
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and organizational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field, plus 6 years of project management experience;
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Technical Design, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field, plus 8 years of project management experience;
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 10 years of related project management experience.
Additional Requirements
  • Strong experience with gas utility projects and industry best practices.
  • Proven project leadership and team coordination experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Utility operations experience.
  • Experience using Primavera P6.
  • Ability to effectively navigate challenging conversations with stakeholders and business partners.
  • Experience analyzing project metrics, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
