The Water Reclamation Division is responsible for the administration and treatment functions of the wastewater system and the production of reclaimed water at three water reclamation facilities that collectively treat approximately 50 million gallons per day.
The Water Reclamation Division is seeking a highly qualified "Utilities Section Manager". This position will be responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed at the Eastern Water Reclamation Facility. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Department Manager.
Job Description
General Functions:
Coordinates section activities within the Utility. Responsible for the quality and the quantity of work performed by the section. This is highly responsible professional work with extensive supervisory duties. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Department Manager.
Representative Duties/Assignments
  • Planning, overseeing, and directing the operation and management of two regional water reclamation facility facilities.
  • Responsible for day to day operations of the facility to ensure compliance with applicable permit requirements and provide reliable reclaimed water production to meet the needs of the County's reclaimed water customers.
  • Responsible for effectively coordinating with maintenance support functions to ensure ongoing sustainability of the plant operations.
  • Serve as a core member of the Division's leadership team supporting the Division Manager in ensuring ongoing compliance and effective management of OCU's three regional water reclamation facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Physical or Chemical Sciences, Business or other applicable field of study and four (4) years of experience related to design, management and/or operations of water and/or wastewater utility systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
Based on area of assignment may be required to possess and maintain the appropriate certification or license.
Preferences
  • Strong working knowledge of wastewater treatment including advanced biological treatment plants.
  • A background in maintenance, SCADA, and electrical systems.
  • Possession of related professional licensure (i.e. licensure as a water or wastewater operator, or professional engineer)
  • Experience in budget preparation.
