Job description

Excavation Site Foreman

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: Competitive, based on experience

Work Location: In Person – Pawcatuck, CT


Job Summary

Cherenzia Excavation is looking for an experienced, dependable, and safety-conscious Excavation

Site Foreman to lead our site development crews. This position is responsible for overseeing daily

job site operations, coordinating employees and equipment, and ensuring work is completed safely,

efficiently, and according to project plans.


The ideal candidate has strong excavation and site work experience, leadership skills, and the

ability to read plans, understand grades, and keep projects moving efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead and organize operators, laborers, and truck drivers on the job site.

• Oversee excavation, grading, drainage, utilities, roadwork, and general site

development.

• Read and understand construction plans, grades, elevations, and specifications.

• Coordinate equipment, trucking, materials, and manpower.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.

• Monitor quality, grades, compaction, drainage, and overall workmanship.

• Communicate with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other personnel.

• Complete daily reports for labor, equipment, materials, and job progress.

• Identify and resolve field issues to keep projects on schedule.


Qualifications

• Previous excavation, site development, or heavy civil construction experience required.

• Foreman, Lead Operator, or Crew Leader experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, drainage, and utility work.

• Ability to read construction plans and understand grades.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of job site and excavation safety procedures.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• CDL and OSHA certifications preferred

• GPS and P6 experience preferred


Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work on uneven terrain.

• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and active excavation areas.

• Ability to work extended hours when project schedules require.
