Position Overview
The Utility Laborer is responsible for maintaining plant grounds and supporting general facility upkeep to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained work environment. This role performs groundskeeping, janitorial support, and light equipment operation while assisting plant and office personnel with assigned tasks. The Utility Laborer supports daily plant operations through housekeeping, material handling, and routine maintenance activities.
What You'll Do
  • Maintain plant grounds using mowers, trimmers, and related landscaping equipment.
  • Control weed and grass growth using approved methods, including weed killers and sprays.
  • Pick up trash and debris and keep grounds and work areas clean and orderly.
  • Perform janitorial and housekeeping tasks in office and plant areas as needed.
  • Use hand tools such as shovels, brooms, and chipping guns to clean plant areas and equipment.
  • Operate skid steers and front-end loaders to move materials within the plant when required.
  • Assist office personnel with special projects such as filing, shredding, and mass mailings as needed.
  • Clean and maintain office areas in the absence of janitorial staff.
  • Support additional maintenance, housekeeping, and utility tasks as assigned.

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate lawn and light equipment safely.

Education & Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience using lawn or groundskeeping equipment required.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Other Qualifications
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
  • Strong work ethic, steady work history, and excellent attendance.
  • Commitment to working safely and adhering to all company, plant, and MSHA safety policies.
