We are seeking up to three Utility Foresters to join our Permitting, Planning and Licensing team. The Utility Forester will work on a contract for a Utility Company in central New York State Region. The role will entail working with a team performing utility forestry inspection work on new and existing electric transmission rights-of-way (ROW) clearing projects. These positions are expected to be needed for several years.

Responsibilities
This position requires abilities to: work outside in all weather, walk long distances, possess excellent interpersonal communications, be a self-starter, strong attention to detail and permit understanding.
The following duties are likely to be performed:
  • Overseeing clearing contractors
  • Communicating with host utility forestry and environmental staff
  • Marking danger/hazard trees
  • Enforcing clearing contract specifications
  • Oversee permit compliance regarding all phases of vegetation removal
  • Meeting with regulatory staff in the field
  • Operating in a closely knit team

Qualifications
  • Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in environmental science, forestry, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of utility forestry experience.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Applicant must have experience in ROW projects.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical communication skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude working under aggressive schedules.
  • Ability to make in- field decisions
  • Willingness and ability to work in ALL weather conditions
  • The ability to prepare and review clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence, and other written materials is also required.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous NY oversight in construction or operations and maintenance management experience preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Previous ROW vegetation management experience.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
