Project Manager / Senior Project Manager – Site Civil Focus

Founded in 1973, DJ&A is a multidisciplinary professional services consulting firm with office locations in Montana, Colorado, Washington, Florida, New Mexico, and Nevada. Our team of over 180 professionals works across the country to deliver a range of services, including engineering, environmental, survey, mapping, landscape architecture, and planning, for federal, state, local, tribal, and private clients.

DJ&A’s Civil Engineering & Design (CE&D) Group is seeking a Project Manager /Senior Project Manager – Site Civil focus to join our growing Bozeman-based team. This position plays a key role in leading and delivering local and regional site development projects while serving as a trusted advisor to long-standing and emerging clients. The ideal candidate enjoys owning projects, values quality and attention to detail, and thrives in a collaborative, relationship-driven environment where integrity, accountability, and people matter.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Project Management & Delivery
  • Lead site civil projects from planning and design through construction, including grading, drainage, utilities, and coordination with municipalities and stakeholders.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and internal resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee preparation of plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants.
  • Take ownership of project outcomes by leading with integrity, clear communication, and a commitment to delivering quality work that serves both clients and communities.
  • Perform and oversee QA/QC reviews to ensure accurate, thoughtful, and high-quality deliverables that reflect DJ&A’s commitment to never compromising on quality.
Client Engagement & Business Development
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to regional clients, providing responsive service and thoughtful solutions.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with prioritized local clients while contributing as a client engagement manager for additional accounts.
  • Build trust through responsive service, follow-through, and transparent communication, serving as a long-term partner rather than a transactional consultant.
  • Support business development efforts through proposal development, interviews, and client meetings.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and strengthen long-term client partnerships.
Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor and support emerging engineers and project managers.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and quality-focused team environment.
  • Contribute to a respectful, inclusive team culture where people feel supported, challenged, and valued.
Preferred Project Experience:
  • Site development for public and private clients
  • Grading, drainage, and utility design
  • Municipal coordination and permitting
  • Developed positive relationships with area developers, contractors, and regulatory agencies (City of Bozeman Engr./Public Works, Bozeman Community Development Dept, Gallatin County, etc.)
  • Experience with federal projects is a plus, but primary focus will be regional site civil work
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or related engineering degree (required).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) (required).
  • 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, including project management responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, attention to detail, and client service.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, including outdoor environments and construction areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
