Job description

We are seeking an experienced Paint Supervisor to join our manufacturing team in Arizona.
Position Summary
This position supervises Painter I, II, and III employees in the Fabrication Department.
Essential Duties
  • Follows blueprints and instructions to meet project requirements.
  • Assigns tasks to employees according to project needs, deadlines, and employee capabilities.
  • Determines the type of technique used for a non-painted surface and applies the paint and/or coatings to the surface.
  • Utilizes sandblaster for applicable apparatus to ensure paint adhesion.
  • Uses powder coating process for applicable apparatus including the application and curing process.
  • Uses electrostatic painting for applicable apparatus including the preparation, grounding, application, curing and recovery process.
  • Complies with chemical, waste, storage, disposal, and best practice.
  • Ensures safety documentation is completed.
  • Ensures department is clean.
  • Resolves problems observed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Must be able to inspire and motivate team to achieve goals and customer expectations.
  • Ability to communicate orally and written to address varying situations and audiences.
  • Knowledge of how own emotions affects the team.
  • Must be able to recognize when to involve management.
  • Ability to apply MSHA and OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow directions.
  • Experience working with hand tools.
  • Experience with sanding, forklift, sandblasting, and powder coating operations.

Supervisor Duties
  • Ensure team is productive and morale is maintained in the Warehouse and the Field.
  • Train and develop painters.
  • Provide timely performance reviews throughout the year.
  • Partner with manager and human resources to address conflict on the team.
  • Manage customer expectations and involve management as appropriate.

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of industrial paint experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures including over 100 degrees and under 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain, warm surfaces, and cold surfaces.
  • Ability to squat, kneel, and lay prone for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Able to and comfortable working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear a respirator according to OSHA stands.
