Job description

The Designer is responsible for design and drafting services that meet the utility client’s requirements and expectations while conforming to appropriate Codes and Standards for the associated project. Detailed designs and drawings include:
 
· Substation Layouts
· Wiring Diagrams
· Power & Electrical Distribution
· Electrical One-Line Diagrams
· Schematics
· Interconnection diagrams
· Plans-Lighting, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, etc.
· Conduit/Cable Schedules
· Electrical Details
 
The Designer should be aware that the design process includes visiting clients’ facilities and performing physical work such as walking, standing, climbing ladders and lifting.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, required
  • 3-5 years of substation electrical design/drafting experience & skilled in standard drafting practices
  • Knowledge of or proficient in field investigations and measurements
  • Familiarity with utility and client-specific standards
  • Working knowledge of or familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong attention to detail and performing self-checking of work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed
