JOB SUMMARY:

The Utah Jazz are looking for friendly, energetic, and die-hard Jazz fans to be on their Game Night Hype Crew. The Game Night Hype Crew is responsible for keeping fans engaged and cheering during all Utah Jazz home games. Team members will be key to helping fans create new and lasting memories during games. This team will represent the Utah Jazz brand by interacting directly with fans at every Utah Jazz home game. This is a seasonal, part-time, paid position. Team members will work a combination of 41 regular games plus preseason and playoff games. As part of this role, qualified candidates may be offered the exciting opportunity to assist with game-day operations and events for the Salt Lake City Stars (NBA G-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz) and/or the Utah Mammoth professional hockey team.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside and communicate closely with the Hype Crew Captain, Director of Entertainment, and Production Assistants.
  • Engage with fans during the game, including but not limited to prompting crowd chants, holding signs, encouraging organic fan moments, distributing prizes, etc.
  • Encourage fan involvement with pregame and in-game concourse activities such as inflatable games, dance-offs, crafts for kids, etc.
  • Interact with all audiences and demographics, including answering questions, taking pictures, and making videos.
  • Seek out opportunities to create memorable moments for all fans.
  • Observe the crowd and the environment for any safety issues and respond appropriately as needed.
  • Protect the reputation of the company.
  • Exemplify the Utah Jazz mission and values: transparency, all-in, community-obsessed, one-team, and scrappy.
  • Accept other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An outgoing and welcoming personality is an absolute must!
  • Must be friendly and energetic in an effort to engage and excite fans.
  • Experience as a dancer, cheerleader, or spirit team member is heavily encouraged.
  • Consistently punctual.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle numerous tasks.
  • Perform under tight time schedules.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service-oriented.
  • Must be available to attend 75% of all Jazz home games.
  • Must be available at 5:00 P.M. for the pregame meeting (for 7 P.M. tip-off times).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both in writing and verbally.
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods.
  • This person must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 6 hours, and consistently walk up and down arena stairs.
