Job description

About Respondology
Respondology is the AI-powered social engagement platform that modernizes how social marketers moderate, listen to, and respond to comments at scale.
The world's top brands rely on Respondology to transform comment sections into community, commerce, and competitive intelligence. Fast to deploy and easy to use, our customers engage with over 2 billion collective followers every month.
About the Role
Respondology is looking for a Senior Product Designer to be our first in-house product designer. This is a foundational role with real scope: you'll own the end-to-end design process, from early discovery and research through to polished, shippable UI, and you'll establish the practices, systems, and standards that will scale with the team.
We're a startup, which means you'll wear a lot of hats. There's no design team to delegate to, no established playbook to follow, and no shortage of interesting problems to solve. The right person for this role is energized by that, not intimidated by it. You're comfortable doing the strategic thinking and the pixel-pushing, sometimes in the same afternoon, and you know how to make smart tradeoffs when resources and time are tight.
You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering and your work will be seen by some of the world's most recognizable brands.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experienced across the full design process, including user research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and visual design. You don't rely on specialists to fill in gaps.
  • Deeply fluent in Figma, including component libraries, auto layout, prototyping, and design system documentation.
  • Comfortable working within the software development lifecycle, with a clear understanding of how design decisions affect engineering and how to stay closely involved from first spec to shipped feature.
  • A systems thinker who builds scalable component libraries and design patterns that create a unified, consistent experience across the platform.
  • Familiar with social media ecosystems, or excited to get there quickly, with an eye for how complex data and real-time information can be made simple and intuitive.
  • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity. You can scope your own work, identify what's missing, and make pragmatic decisions without waiting for perfect information.

A Day in the Life
  • Own product design end-to-end, from problem definition and user research through wireframes, prototypes, and final UI handoff.
  • Evolve Respondology's design system, building component libraries and documentation that create a unified experience across the platform and make the team faster over time.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers from early problem definition through to final implementation, staying involved and engaged at every stage of the process.
  • Conduct user research and synthesize customer feedback to inform product direction and validate design decisions.
  • Produce high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes in Figma to communicate design intent clearly to engineering.
  • Identify UX gaps and proactively bring forward design improvements, not just respond to requests.

Here's What You Need to Get Our Attention
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, with a portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end ownership across web or SaaS products. Please link your portfolio in the submission.
  • Expert-level Figma skills, including component libraries, design systems, and developer handoff.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with Product Managers and Engineers, with a clear understanding of how to move design from concept through delivery.
  • Strong visual design sensibility paired with solid interaction design fundamentals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. We care more about your portfolio than your degree.

Here's What Will Make Us Call You, For Sure
  • Experience as the first or only product designer at a company or within a product area, where you had to build the process alongside the work.
  • Background in social media marketing tools, moderation software, analytics, or other marketing tech where complex data needs to be surfaced clearly.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to accelerate your design workflow, from research synthesis to generative ideation to production.
  • Experience working on B2B SaaS products where the buyer and end user are often different people.

Compensation
$105k-$135k DOE + bonus + equity
Location
This role can be hybrid in Boulder, CO or fully remote in these states: CA, CO, UT, MT, KY, TX, NJ, NY, FL, NE, MA. United States or Canada only.
And If We Haven't Convinced You Yet
  • Our product is making the world a better place. You will make an impact.
  • Everyone is an owner. This role includes equity.
  • Twice yearly off-sites to enjoy time together as a team.
  • Flex PTO plan, generous holidays, and an off-week between Christmas and New Year's.
  • Multiple healthcare options, including plans with FSA and HSA.
  • Matching traditional and Roth 401k, immediately vested.
  • Family and paternity leave.
  • Life insurance.

The pay range for this role is:
105,000 - 135,000 USD per year (United States)
