Supervises Positions:
JOB SUMMARY
Performs and or assists in transporting of patients of all ages from UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper to other health care facilities, nursing care facilities or residence with qualified personnel as mandated by the patient's condition.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED - Required
Experience: 2 years of work experience as a cleared ALS provider with a 911 agency, inter-facility, transport agency or equivalent preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: State EMT/Paramedic certification. Advance Life Support Attendant: Paramedic. Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC). Valid Driver's License - must produce acceptable DMV driving record. AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Must remain calm and organized in emergent situations. Must be available for rotating shifts as required. Must have keen sense of responsibility, ability to make decisions, and work independently. Must have good judgment. Must have basic computer knowledge. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interact effectively with the public. Perform IV/IO access including ED. Operate mechanical ventilators. Operate under REMS and department protocols to include special MD orders. Other duties as assigned under the scope of practice of Virginia as a Paramedic.

Must be available to work six shifts per six week schedule to include at least two weekend shifts.
Must be available to work two Holidays annually. Holidays covered by this policy, include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. One of the holidays scheduled must be an end of year holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day).
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.     The base compensation for this role is $35.35 hourly.
