Job description

REPORTS TO: WFM-R Program Director, Attending Physicians, Chief Residents

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  1. M.D. or D.O. degree from accredited school
  2. Successful completion of USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 (or COMLEX for DOs)
  3. Eligible for Texas medical licensure or training permit

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Must have a genuine desire to continuously learn and provide culturally sensitive high quality patient care to a culturally, ethnically and racially diverse patient population.
  • Direct patient care activities through continuity outpatient care at WFM – Central and/or other WFM clinical sites, including managing chronic conditions & preventive health.
  • Deliver inpatient care at affiliated hospitals, including rounds and acute care management.
  • Provide care to underserved and rural populations in Central Texas.
  • Advocate for patient-centered care and social determinants of health.
  • Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Participation in on-call duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Attend didactic sessions, grand rounds, and journal clubs.
  • Attend assigned and committee conferences/meetings.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement projects.
  • Participate in direct feedback sessions and structured evaluations
  • Incorporate feedback from attending physicians/senior residents to refine clinical competence
  • Engage in self-directed learning to enhance clinical knowledge and decision-making
  • Adherence to duty hour restrictions per ACGME guidelines
  • Maintain admission privileges at both BaylorScott and White Hillcrest & Ascension Providence
  • Adhere to the standards, policies and expectations set forth in the WFM-R Resident and Fellow Manual
  • Other duties as assigned
