Job description

The Role
Energy Toolbase builds industry leading software for the modeling, intelligent control, and monitoring of distributed energy storage and photovoltaic systems. As a key member of a small, high impact UX team, you will take an active role in shaping the end to end user experience across Energy Toolbase's full product suite. This role is ideal for a self-starter who is comfortable owning UX initiatives, researching, designing, testing, and iterating customer centered experiences, while working closely with Product and Engineering to deliver intuitive, scalable, and high impact solutions for complex, technical users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as a core owner of UX across ETB's full product suite, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to deliver cohesive, scalable design solutions aligned with business goals and technical constraints
  • Collaborate day-to-day with Product Managers and Engineering leads to translate complex requirements into intuitive, user-centered experiences across multiple tools and platforms
  • Plan and conduct end-to-end user research-including interviews, discovery sessions, and workflow analysis-to deeply understand customer needs, behaviors, goals, and pain points
  • Create and maintain user journeys, task flows, interaction models, and information architecture that support consistency across ETB's integrated product ecosystem
  • Design clear, usable, and accessible interfaces across all ETB products, balancing usability, efficiency, and visual clarity for technical and non-technical users
  • Plan, run, and synthesize usability tests and validation activities, iterating on designs based on qualitative and quantitative feedback
  • Own UX outcomes by supporting the evaluation of design improvements using metrics such as product adoption, activation, usability, and customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to and help evolve ETB's UX standards, patterns, and best practices as part of a lean, high-impact small and mighty UX team of two.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Seasoned UX practitioner with strong end-to-end experience owning UX across complex, multi-product SaaS platforms, from discovery and research through design, validation, and iteration
  • Demonstrated self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently, take control of UX initiatives, and drive work forward in a lean environment with minimal oversight
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with comfort making decisions, prioritizing work, and advocating for users while balancing product, technical, and business needs
  • Deep understanding of user-centered and human-centered design principles, with the ability to apply them pragmatically in real-world, production environments
  • Strong knowledge of core SaaS UX patterns, including onboarding, dashboards, workflows, feature discovery, permissions and multi-role user experiences
  • Proficiency with UX design and prototyping tools, including Figma (primary), and familiarity with tools such as Jira, Scribe, Loop and Notion.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, with working familiarity across ETB's technology stack, including:
    • TypeScript
    • C# and object-oriented programming concepts
    • MS SQL
    • REST APIs
    • Microsoft Azure-based applications and services
  • Comfortable designing within and contributing to design systems, accessibility standards, and reusable interaction patterns across multiple products
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale to Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, UX Design, Design Strategy, or a related field
Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of UX or product design experience, ideally within SaaS or complex software products.
