You will help keep them safe by providing superior navigation, connectivity, and radar solutions. And you will get to tell your cycling friends "I worked on that!"
In this UX-focused role, you will be paired with a design mentor and be responsible for understanding, ideating, and creating compelling, well-crafted designs for new features and functions for many of our products. Success involves understanding and applying fundamental usability and user-centered design principles, working amongst many groups and stakeholders to hone your design, and guiding software user interface development, working closely with design leadership, software engineers, graphic artists, product managers, and other stakeholders of your assigned projects.

  • Document clear, organized solutions that are highly understandable in flow, function and status by stakeholders, engineers, and unfamiliar eyes
  • Work closely with design leadership, software engineers, graphic artists, product managers and other stakeholders of the assigned project in determining design direction
  • Assist with new user interface testing and conduct usability tests to get feedback on new designs where applicable
  • Collaborate with and communicate to teams within product design, software engineering and management to produce superior solutions
  • Adapt designs as needed, expecting some ambiguity and change during a project
  • Maintain and ensure user interface design and behavioral consistency across product types
  • May contribute to advanced design research or concepting for new products or markets through research, prototyping, testing and open internal collaboration
  • Remain current on user interface design trends and competitors' designs
  • Stay abreast with new prototyping, presentation or computer graphics techniques and software
  • Communicate status of work clearly and provide visibility to supervisor
  • May serve as mentor to designers with less experience (Product Designers 1)

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience OR a minimum of 5 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience performing the essential functions of the Garmin Product Designer role
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Proficiency and exceptional skills in creating research, flows and prototypes using tools such as Figma
