What is a User Experience Visual Designer?

A User Experience (UX) Visual Designer is a professional who focuses on creating visually appealing and intuitive designs that enhance how users interact with digital products, such as websites and mobile apps. UX Visual Designers often work closely with UX researchers, developers, and product managers to translate user needs and business goals into effective visual solutions. Their work includes designing layouts, selecting color schemes, creating icons, and ensuring consistency throughout the user interface.

Job description

We are looking for the right people — people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.

About the Role

Halliburton is seeking a Principal Product Designer to help define and drive the next generation of user experiences across its portfolio of enterprise applications.

This role spans both platform and product. You will contribute to the evolution of a unified design system and language, while also shaping forward-looking experience strategies that leverage emerging technologies such as AI, intelligent agents, and new interaction paradigms.

As a senior individual contributor, you will operate as a thought leader within the organization, influencing how teams design, build, and deliver user experiences at scale.

Job Duties
  • Define and evolve design principles, interaction models, and experience patterns across products and platforms
  • Contribute to and guide the development of a unified design system, ensuring alignment with real product needs
  • Drive a product-led approach to system and experience design, grounded in actual workflows and user outcomes
  • Evangelize best practices and emerging approaches to UX across teams and leadership
  • Shape how the organization approaches next-generation experiences, including:
    • AI-assisted and AI-generated interfaces
    • Agent-driven workflows
    • Context-aware and adaptive systems
  • Establish standards and guardrails for consistent, scalable UX across the portfolio
  • Partner closely with engineering to ensure design concepts translate effectively into production systems
  • Mentor designers and elevate systems thinking and craft across the organization
  • Contribute to long-term UX strategy across multiple product lines and domains
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field—or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience in product design, including principal, staff, or equivalent senior roles
  • Proven ability to influence and drive design direction across multiple products or platforms
  • Strong systems thinking across end-to-end workflows, patterns, and architectures
  • Experience working closely with engineering to deliver production-ready solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for enterprise or technical products
  • Experience working on platforms, ecosystems, or multi-product environments
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence at leadership levels
  • Experience mentoring and developing senior designers
AI & Emerging Technology Experience
  • Strong interest in how AI is transforming user experience and product design
  • Experience designing for or exploring:
    • AI-assisted interfaces (co-pilot models)
    • Generative or adaptive UI systems
    • Agent-based or workflow-driven experiences
  • Understanding of how design systems and platforms must evolve to support dynamic, AI-influenced interfaces
  • Familiarity with emerging tools and workflows in AI-assisted design and prototyping

What Sets You Apart

  • Ability to operate as both a strategic thinker and hands-on designer
  • Strong point of view on the future of UX and how it applies to enterprise software
  • Experience balancing innovation with real-world constraints and delivery
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, evolving domains
Additional Information

This role combines platform thinking, product design, and thought leadership. You will help shape both the foundation and the future of user experience across the organization.
