Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...The Principal, UX Designer leads end-to-end experience strategy for Walmart's Global Realty pillar — driving design direction, influencing stakeholders at every level, and presenting directly to senior leadership. This role demands a sharp combination of systems thinking, field empathy, and design craft. You'll translate complex operational workflows into clear, scalable experiences while mentoring teammates and raising the bar for what associate-facing design can be. About the Team
The Real Estate design team sits within Walmart's Global Design organization, supporting Field Associate Tools. We design the tools that run Walmart's physical portfolio: facilities management, store remodels, new store builds, and technician enablement. Our work reaches thousands of field associates, technicians, contractors, and vendors every day.
We partner with engineering, product, and business stakeholders across Global Realty to turn complex field workflows into clear, intuitive experiences. We're modernizing legacy tooling, surfacing AI-driven insights, and building a long-term vision for Realty operations at scale. We're a small, senior team — everyone owns their space and shapes where we go next. What You'll Do
  •   Drive end-to-end experience strategy across a major pillar of Walmart's physical operations — from research to final execution
  •   Lead user research initiatives including field interviews, site visits, and workflow analysis that surface actionable insights for design strategy
  •   Develop user journeys, interaction models, and prototypes for both desktop web and native mobile platforms used by a field workforce
  •   Collaborate with engineering, product, and business partners to align UX solutions with operational goals and associate needs
  •   Design scalable, accessible interfaces that meet native mobile conventions and Walmart's Living Design standards
  •  Conduct usability testing and iterate rapidly based on real-world feedback from field users
  •   Maintain design documentation — specifications, pattern libraries, and style guides — to ensure consistency across the pillar
  •  Mentor designers on the team, model high standards, and contribute to a culture of craft and accountability
What You'll Bring
  •   Understands the impact of designing for associates and employee-facing experiences
  •   Can design for desktop web and native mobile tools that empower a field workforce
  •   Has an understanding of AI-supported design and prototyping tools that enable rapid ideation, user testing, and creating polished execution
  •   Deep experience designing for associate- or employee-facing products, ideally in operational or field-workforce contexts
  •   Strong proficiency in desktop web and native mobile design — you understand the constraints and conventions of both
  •  Fluency with AI-supported design and prototyping tools that accelerate ideation, user testing, and high-fidelity execution
  •  Expertise in user research methods: interviews, surveys, journey mapping, and site visits in complex organizational environments
  •  Proven ability to synthesize ambiguous research data into clear design decisions and communicate them to senior stakeholders
  •  Track record of mentoring designers and managing multiple workstreams without sacrificing quality
  •  Strong portfolio demonstrating systems-level thinking, end-to-end ownership, and tangible impact on real users
