What is a user experience tester?

User Experience Testers, also known as UX Testers, are professionals who evaluate websites, apps, or products to ensure they are intuitive, user-friendly, and meet the needs of end users. They conduct usability testing by performing tasks, providing feedback, and identifying areas of improvement in design and functionality. Their insights help designers and developers create better products that offer a positive and efficient user experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a user experience tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as a User Experience Tester, you need a solid understanding of usability principles, user research methods, and attention to detail, often supported by a degree in human-computer interaction or a related field. Familiarity with prototyping tools, analytics platforms, and usability testing software such as UserTesting or Lookback is commonly required. Strong observational skills, effective communication, and empathy allow testers to accurately interpret user feedback and collaborate with design teams. These skills and tools are vital for identifying usability issues and ensuring digital products deliver a seamless, user-friendly experience.

How do user experience testers typically collaborate with designers and developers during a product's development cycle?

User Experience Testers work closely with both designers and developers to ensure that user feedback is effectively integrated into the product. They often participate in design review meetings, provide usability feedback, and report issues or suggestions based on user testing sessions. Regular communication helps bridge the gap between user needs and technical constraints, ensuring a more user-friendly end product. This collaborative approach not only improves the user experience but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

What is the difference between User Experience Tester vs User Interface Designer?

With 40+ years of experience in the insurtech game, we're not just redefining what's achievable; we're creating a place where amazing career moments are made possible.

Position Overview

We're searching for a Senior UX Designer to join our EZLynx Product Team on a remote or hybrid basis in the United States. To keep us headed in the right direction, we're looking for people who understand winning is a team sport, who value and seek to learn from our team's diverse experiences and backgrounds, who welcome a challenge and take risks in the pursuit of creating better outcomes for our customers, and who can, at any given time, step back to laugh and have some fun.

What You'll Do

  • Develop a strong understanding of our users' experience through our suite of products and explore the needs and motivations of our target users.
  • Partner with stakeholders in identifying, constructing, and testing information architecture.
  • Bring product ideas to life with quick, well-reasoned wireframes, mockups, and coded prototypes.
  • Coordinate and conduct primary user research and formal Usability Testing to help us efficiently validate and iterate.
  • Articulate storytelling, the why behind your design decisions.
  • Collaborate with the product and development teams as they implement the design into released product features.
  • Promote product consistency across the platform.
  • Employ usage analytics from our product to generate data to track and measure the success of our solutions.

We're Excited to Learn More About You

Your experience may include:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in UX, preferably in a commercial software environment working on B2B enterprise software or SaaS products.
  • Well-versed in experimental design, research methodology, and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with research methodologies such as user observation, user interview, usability testing, card sorts, persona development, user journeys and surveys.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret research data and turn it into actionable insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills that promote idea-sharing and knowledge transfer.
  • Proficient in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Balsamiq, Miro, whiteboards, etc.)

You may have other skills or credentials, including:

  • Insurance industry or Insurance technology experience
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques - e.g., AI, Machine Learning, etc.

We know that talent comes from all backgrounds and experience levels. We encourage military members and their spouses as well as candidates without a degree or a background in tech to apply!
