As a UI UX Designer IT, you will create and maintain web and mobile platform applications for the Airports Authority that are visually striking, cohesive, user-friendly, and engaging. Your work will help the Airports Authority to maintain and enhance its digital presence.
UI UX Designer IT
Serves in Web Application Department of the Office of Technology at Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Works closely with Business Analyst and Business Stakeholders to understand the business requirements, develop wireframes and UI-UX interaction concepts, get stakeholders onboard with the design and deliver the finished product specifications to Development team. Works with the EBIA team to innovate and redesign the Airports Authority's web and intranet sites to keep travelers, end-users, and business stakeholders engaged and informed of activities occurring at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Dulles Washington International Airport (IAD). Performs related functions.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs and prototypes features for the Airports Authority website, intranet site, and mobile applications (apps), web applications, using best-of-breed experience design. Moves from whiteboard and paper prototypes to interactive prototypes.
Uses computer graphics software packages and web development languages and technologies to create interactive and visually appealing designs. Designs graphics that effectively communicate the Airports Authority's online marketing and overall public relations message in collaboration with the Office of Communications.
Presents design work to Office of Communication marketing staff, business area leaders, and other staff for feedback and review.
Participates in planning the Airports Authority's website and applications.
Collects text documents and images that will appear on web and intranet pages and converts them into a form that can be viewed in HTML.
Creates device-agnostic web and intranet pages and mobile apps that are compatible across computer systems and browsers.
Assesses the usability of new and existing web and app features and makes recommendations for improvement to software engineers and analysts.
Conducts usability testing in collaboration with software engineers and remains up-to-date on evolving design standards.
Achieves established Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets for supporting apps under assigned domain(s).
Supports web page and application development for the existing Airports Authority intranet and web sites and business application portfolio.
Utilizes software development tools like Jira, DevOps Tools, to capture the requirements and collaborates with rest of the development teams.
Conducts desk audits and shadowing of the customer for Design Thinking workshops and develop Business Applications product design as per industry standards and guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Six years of progressively responsible experience in IT software development creating applications, and a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Three of the six years of experience must include working in a User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) capacity designing interactive websites and applications for customer audiences.
Skill in applying UI/UX design to conceptualize, design, and prototype new features for websites, intranet sites, mobile pages, and apps that are user-friendly, clear, and efficient.
Skill in using HTML extensions and mobile rendering aspects of graphics and content to convert text documents and images into a form that can be viewed in HTML.
Skill in creating interactive and responsive designs for web and mobile apps using Flash, XML-based web apps and programming, XHTML programming, Adobe XD, Tailwind, and other web development languages and technologies.
Skill in applying the device-agnostic approach to web and mobile app design that is compatible with all servers and browsers.
Ability to make detailed analyses of data and information and make recommendations.
Ability to conduct Sprint grooming of the SCRUM process.
Knowledge of DevOps concepts and tools like Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps.
Ability to speak and write effectively, with emphasis on communicating technical issues to nontechnical audiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience using graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Tailwind, and Paint Shop Pro) and current HTML programming in the design of web, intranet, and mobile apps.
Experience in software development projects in web and mobile technologies, including development of mobile app solutions.
