Responsibilities

We're looking for experienced design leaders who are passionate about elevating design excellence, building our overall design capability through the development of our practitioners, and shaping the future of Experience Design at State Farm.

Senior Experience Leads partner with organizational and experience leadership to define experience strategy, influence product direction, and strengthen our design practice across products, services, and customer journeys. They serve as trusted experience leaders who build alignment across Product, Engineering, Research, and Design while ensuring the experiences we deliver are customer-centered, accessible, scalable, and aligned with our design standards.

What Success Looks Like

Senior Experience Leads strengthen both the products they support and the Experience Design practice they help shape. Success in this role means:

  • Establishing a clear experience vision that aligns customer needs, business objectives, and technical direction.
  • Building organizational capability by developing practitioners, elevating design quality, and strengthening the consistency of Experience Design across teams.
  • Influencing strategic decisions and fostering trusted partnerships that deliver connected customer experiences and measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and advance experience strategy across multiple products, teams, or customer journeys, delivering connected customer experiences that align customer needs with business priorities.
  • Serve as the senior experience leader for assigned initiatives, driving design quality and providing strategic guidance on complex experience decisions.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, Business, and Experience Leadership to build alignment, influence decisions, and deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.
  • Strengthen the Experience Design practice by developing practitioners, championing accessibility, and advancing the consistent application of the State Farm Design System and brand standards.
  • Evaluate and responsibly apply AI and emerging technologies to enhance design practices, practitioner effectiveness, and customer experiences.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, influencing strategic outcomes across organizational boundaries while balancing customer, business, and technical priorities.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in User Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience serving as an Experience Lead or in a comparable UX leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex experience initiatives across multiple teams, products, or customer journeys.
  • Strong communication, storytelling, facilitation, coaching, and influencing skills with the ability to build alignment across diverse stakeholders and leadership.
  • Proven ability to strengthen design capability by developing practitioners and elevating design quality across teams.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, design leadership, and measurable customer and business impact.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including AI.
