Job description

We are seeking a Software Product owner with experience and a proven track record of Product Ownership or Management with the ability to get up to speed on custom built products and hit the ground running. The ability to provide value and bridge the gap between business stakeholders and the software development team is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop Expertise in USEF software products including AHSD, USEF website, and Mobile Applications.
  • Work with Project Manager and Staff to ensure that requested projects and changes fit into the overall structure and purpose of USEF products.
  • Evaluate initial customer feature requests to determine level of effort in close collaboration with Senior Developers.
  • Understand and clarify customer needs and requests and translate them into product requirements and business use case documents.
  • Present features at project prioritization stage gate meetings
  • Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
  • Business knowledge base for Development Team to clarify project specifications.
  • Write and Refine user stories/tasks for development team.
  • Responsible for Data Integrity in USEF Systems
  • Think ahead and recommend changes to keep products naturally evolving and moving forward in alignment with the Federation’s strategic plan.
  • Manage the product backlog and prioritize based on changing requirements.
  • Provide training and documentation/workflows on USEF products and features to staff.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to staff and members, with an emphasis on being helpful and finding resolutions that comply with the Federation’s strategic plan and information technology policies.

Required, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to set priorities and maintain effectiveness at varying tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of user-centered design principles.
  • Ability to show initiative and be resourceful when creating solutions.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Typing 20 wpm. Computer & Software Proficiency and Microsoft Office knowledge required.
  • Windows OS, JIRA, and SQL Server knowledge a plus
  • Working hours from 8:30am to 5pm.
  • Extended hours of availability, including some nights and weekends.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent IT experience
  • 3-4 years experience working within an agile development team

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. (Anything over 25 pounds requires a two person lift)
