Job description

A leader in Life Sciences Manufacturing Technology solutions, AMTSOL partners with global pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations to deliver Automation, MES, CSV, CQV, and Digital Transformation solutions across Singapore, Europe, and the USA.

Automation Engineer – DeltaV & Python (PTO Support)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – minimum one week per month onsite
Engagement Duration: 12 months

About the Role

The engineer will work closely with the Hybrid Node Automation Team, technical workstream leads, project automation teams, and System Integrators to support the development and consistent implementation of automation standards, software components, and technical deliverables.

This role requires a combination of DeltaV Batch knowledge and Python scripting capabilities to support process automation and related software development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support technical activities across automation workstreams within the Program Technical Office.
  • Work closely with the Hybrid Node Automation Team and System Integrators during design, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Support the development and application of common automation philosophies, standards, templates, and engineering guidance.
  • Contribute to the definition, development, and modification of DeltaV Batch software components.
  • Participate in the in-house development of a recipe builder tool using Python scripting.
  • Assist in developing reusable automation components, recipe structures, and software design standards.
  • Review automation solutions and System Integrator deliverables for alignment with program requirements and established standards.
  • Support the preparation of technical specifications, design documents, engineering deliverables, and test documentation.
  • Coordinate with automation, process, digital plant, CSV, manufacturing, quality, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support testing, commissioning, qualification, and validation activities in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during project execution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of automation engineering experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV Batch DCS.
  • Experience with batch control, recipe configuration, phases, equipment modules, control modules, and ISA-88 concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Python scripting; practical Python development experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical or life sciences automation projects.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, regulatory requirements, change control, and computer system validation principles.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal automation teams, System Integrators, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
