PRINCIPAL CYBER SOFTWARE ENGINEER
LOCATION: FORT MEADE, MD
DIRECT HIRE
PAY RANGE: $160K - $250K JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join a federal program full-time in Fort Meade. They will support software development initiatives in critical environments. They will be responsible to deliver secure, resilient software capabilities aligned with national security and cyberspace mission objectives across the full software development lifecycle. RESPONSIBILITIES • Design, develop, test, integrate, and deploy secure software solutions supporting national security missions • Implement DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD processes, and automated testing in classified environments • Conduct secure code reviews, vulnerability assessments, threat modeling, and remediation • Translate mission and operational requirements into secure technical solutions and prototypes • Ensure software compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, ATO requirements, and supply‑chain risk mitigation • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, cybersecurity, and mission stakeholders REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field • 8+ years of software engineering experience with one of the following; ○ Cyber tools ○ AI/ML applications ○ DoD Mission-focused platforms • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ • Understanding of networking fundamentals and common network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, UDP, etc.) NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Experience with cybersecurity tools or cyber operations platforms • Data analytics or mission systems • Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) • DevSecOps or CI/CD environments • Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs
