Job description

About BRAC and BRAC USA

BRAC is an award-winning, international non-governmental development organization with the vision of a world free from all forms of exploitation and discrimination, where everyone has the opportunity to realize their potential. BRAC is a leader in developing and implementing cost-effective, evidence-based programs to assist communities in low-income countries, including in conflict-prone and post-disaster settings. It is an organization of and for the people of the Global South, pioneering new development and social enterprise approaches to equip communities to achieve prosperity.

Based in New York, BRAC USA is the North American affiliate of BRAC. BRAC USA is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit that strengthens BRAC's impact by raising awareness about its work, mobilizing resources to support its programs, and amplifying its evidence-based poverty innovations worldwide.

About the Position

BRAC USA seeks an intern to report to the Senior Associate of the Individual Philanthropy Team. The Intern will support our prospecting, solicitation, and logistical efforts to reach financial targets. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit fundraising and communications and candidates who want to develop a greater understanding of the elements of an individual giving program and a year end campaign.

This is a paid, part-time, hybrid position, with a minimum of one day per week in the NYC office. BRAC USA pays at least the highest applicable federal, state, or local minimum wage for hours worked. The intern will work up to 15 hours per week, with a specific schedule to be determined in discussion with their supervisor. The internship is expected to begin in late September or early October 2026 and will continue for 15 weeks; the exact start date is flexible.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with the team's database management, including inputting and cleaning data and potentially running reports in Salesforce.
  • Support with drafting, proofing, and sending gift acknowledgments.
  • Support major gift fundraising efforts, including conducting donor research, preparing meeting briefings, and developing stewardship materials.
  • Support with prospect research of potential donors and networking with existing donors and board members.
  • Assist with virtual and in-person events, as needed.
  • Provide administrative support for year-end fundraising campaign activities, including proofreading, printing, and mailing.
  • Assist with special projects as they arise.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, recent graduate, or other early-career candidate in a relevant field, including candidates not currently enrolled in an academic program; if a current BA student, preference will be given to rising seniors
  • A passion for international development and BRAC's mission
  • Ability to manage tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented (hybrid) environment
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Proactive team player with a strong desire to learn and the ability to be flexible
  • Previous work with Salesforce databases is a plus
  • Excellent research skills and ability to frame writing and research for a variety of audiences
  • A sincere and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to promote and strengthen a culture of belonging at BRAC USA

How to Apply

To apply, please upload a resume, cover letter, and writing sample (e.g., class paper or another example of writing ability). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

BRAC USA offers academic credit where permitted.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer.

Due to the high volume of applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. No calls, please.
