Competition Cheer Team - Assistant Coach
The Head Competition Cheerleading Coach's primary responsibility is to evolve and develop the Competition Cheerleading program and educate, manage, and supervise the enrolled participants.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training programs; plan and execute comprehensive training sessions to improve athlete's skills and performance for all experience levels.
- Player Development: Provide guidance and feedback to help athletes reach their full potential on and off the mat.
- Team Management: Oversee team selection, discipline, and morale, ensuring a cohesive and motivated team environment.
- Health and Safety: Monitor the physical and mental well-being of athletes.
- Logistics Coordination: Work with athletes, parents, and the Recreation and Sports Coordinator to organize training schedules, travel arrangements, and other logistical details.
- Recruitment: Scout and recruit talented athletes from Delano High School to strengthen the team.
- Compliance: Ensure the team adheres to MCCA, USA Cheer, and NFHS rules and regulations.
- Equipment Management: Maintain and manage team equipment, including uniforms.
- Choreograph and Teach Routines: Develop, teach, enhance, and evolve cheerleading routines.
- Safety Management: Ensure all cheerleading activities are conducted safely, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
- Budget Management: Partner with the Recreation and Sports Coordinator to develop and manage the program's budget, including expenses and fundraisers.
- Candidates should:
- Proven experience working as a cheerleading coach.
- Knowledge of competitive cheerleading scoring rubrics and rules is preferred.
- Experience competing as a cheerleader is preferred.
- Stunting certification obtained from USA Cheer or the willingness to become certified.
- Ability to collaborate with others on the cheerleading coaching staff to meet the long-term needs of the cheerleading program.
