Job description

Robotics Software Engineer – Localization

We are seeking an experienced Robotics Software Engineer to develop and advance localization capabilities for autonomous mobile robots operating in real-world indoor environments. This role is focused specifically on 3D LiDAR-based, non-visual localization, including localization algorithm development, LiDAR/IMU sensor fusion, SLAM, state estimation, and navigation.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience developing and deploying localization software on production robotic platforms—not simply integrating or consuming localization outputs from an existing system.

Key Qualifications

  • Professional robotics software engineering experience with autonomous mobile robots or comparable autonomous systems
  • Hands-on development of 3D LiDAR-based localization and/or SLAM
  • Experience with LiDAR/IMU sensor fusion and state estimation
  • Strong C++ development skills
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting algorithms on physical robotic platforms
  • Background with AMRs, AGVs, autonomous forklifts, warehouse robotics, or other indoor mobile robotics strongly preferred
  • Pittsburgh-based or willing to relocate and work in a hybrid environment
