What is an oil rig roustabout?

An oil rig roustabout is an entry-level worker on an oil rig responsible for general labor and maintenance tasks. Roustabouts play a vital support role in keeping oil rig operations running smoothly and safely. The position can be physically demanding and typically requires working long hours in challenging environments.

What is the easiest job to do on an oil rig?

On an oil rig, the roustabout position is often considered one of the entry-level and less technically demanding roles, involving general labor such as cleaning, painting, and assisting with equipment. It requires physical stamina and basic safety training but typically involves less specialized skills compared to other roles like drillers or engineers.
