Position Summary: Pharmacy Tech II is a certified pharmacy tech responsible for duties including but not limited to: cart fill, cart delivery, Pyxis fill, IV preparation and use of Cerner for pharmacy routines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accurately fill medication orders

  • Deliver medication and intravenous solutions to patient care areas

  • Refill Pyxis and perform Pyxis outdate procedure

  • Prepare sterile products using aseptic technique

  • Maintain the sterile compounding area using appropriate cleaning protocols and documentation

  • Perform pharmacy calculations

  • Adhere to the safe handling of hazardous medication practices

  • Fill and maintain emergency drug boxes

  • Conduct unit inspections

  • Participate in cost reduction and inventory control measures

  • Perform functions using hospital computer systems (e.g. Cerner, Meditech, Pyxis, etc.)

  • Adhere to departmental and hospital policies and procedures

  • Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits

  • Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct

Required Qualifications:
Education and Training:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Technician License in the State of Illinois AND Pharmacy Technician Certification required.

  • One year of technician experience.

  • Hospital experience is preferred.

Work Shift Details:
Various, Days, evenings, nights, every other weekend, rotating weekends
