Job description

We're currently looking for a Backup Care Sitter in Union City, CA (94587)

A warm family near Union Landing is looking for a reliable caregiver for their almost 6-month-old daughter when their regular care is unavailable. The family hopes to build an ongoing relationship with one or two trusted backup caregivers who can become familiar with their daughter's routines.

1 child: 6-month-old, girl
Rate: $35 per hour
Start date: ASAP
Length of Position: Ongoing backup care
Schedule: As needed
  • Days: Any day of the week, Monday-Sunday | Typically days between Monday-Friday
  • Hours: A minimum of 3 hours per visit, up to 8 hours
    • Typically between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
    • Weekend care may also be available for trial shifts, date nights, and daytime care
Advance notice: At least 24 hours, but typically several days to one week or more
Upcoming dates: November 5 and 6, with a trial shift scheduled beforehand
  • Warm bottles and pre-prepared meals
  • Serve age-appropriate purees and other introduced solids
  • Change diapers
  • Allow additional time for burping after feedings
  • Engage the baby in age-appropriate play and activities
  • Read books to the baby
  • Support developmental milestones, including sitting, reaching, and learning to crawl
  • Outdoor play in the family's back or front yards, weather permitting
  • Light housekeeping related to the child (washing dishes, picking up play area, babies laundry)
  • Follow the family's routines, preferences, and household guidelines
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • At least 2 years of paid childcare experience, including experience with infants in this age group
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification
  • Fully vaccinated, including COVID-19, flu, and HPV vaccinations
  • Able to pass background and social media screenings
  • Able to provide two professional references from paid, care-related positions
  • No smoking or alcohol use while working
  • Hindi and/or Urdu language skills are a plus but are not required
This position pays $35 per hour for occasional backup care. The family is looking for a caregiver who can provide shifts of 3 to 8 hours when their regular care is unavailable, generally with several days to one week of advance notice and a minimum of 24 hours' notice.
