Job description

George Fox University's Event Services department is seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual to serve as the Event Operations Manager.


About the Job:

With over 13,000 events annually scheduled on campus, the Event Operations Manager provides essential support to campus events while maintaining extraordinary experiences for the campus community as services are provided to enhance both routine and large campus events. This same level of service is extended to external organizations utilizing the campus for their events and conferences.

Job Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  • Supervising a team of student employees including managing work schedules based on event needs and conducting regular training meetings.
  • Implementing and overseeing room set ups (load in and load out) for events.
  • Coordinating on campus equipment usage and maintaining inventory.
  • Adding equipment orders and setting up requests to the daily operations calendar.
  • Serving as a liaison between George Fox University and event guests, representing the university to campus guests.
  • Ensuring event guests comply with University guidelines.
  • Acting as the primary contact for external vendors, serving as a liaison between the campus community and event guests.
  • Conducting regular facility inspections and initiating necessary work orders prior to events, particularly for high profile events.
  • Gaining proficiency with the 25Live system to generate reports and manage daily event information.
  • Collaborating with other campus departments, such as the President's Office, Media Production Services, Bon Appetit and Plant Services, to coordinate event production plans.
  • Attending assigned events and providing support as needed.
  • Enforcing and upholding GFU policies related to facility use.
  • Assisting, training, and guiding University employees in event planning and effective communication of their needs
  • Managing logistics for events in the Chapel including coordinating with wedding parties.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life of This Position:

The Event Operations Manager is a highly diverse role which varies day-to-day in routine and duties. They will supervise student employees to perform tasks related to events, maintain and track department equipment, coordinate and execute event set ups (load in and load out) and operation of campus events. The Event Operations Manager works with external customers and represents the University to the public on a regular basis.


We're Looking for Candidates Who Have:

  • Two or more years of college and/or an Associate's Degree.
  • 1-2 years of related work experience.
  • The ability to work a varied work schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • A strong sense of initiative and willingness to provide assistance to others; employees, students, and the public.
  • Strong communication, public speaking, organizational, decision-making/problem-solving, and computer skills.
  • Flexibility, ability to extend grace and pivot quickly with last minute changes or when missing information surfaces.
  • A clean driving record along with the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and pass the University Driver Certification.
  • The ability to operate event equipment or willingness to learn.

Job Information:

  • Hours Per Week: 40 hours
    • Must be available to work weekends and non-routine hours when required.

  • Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 50 pounds, standing and/or stooping for extended periods of time, and traversing campus grounds in all types of weather. Exposure to various outside working and weather conditions, including inclement weather, on a regular basis.
